Building links overseas
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Professor Michael Davies, recently welcomed
a delegation from the Zhejiang University of Technology to Dundee.
The visiting delegation included the President of the University Professor Zhang, Professor Zhou,
Professor Yu and Professor Zheng. Zhejiang University of Technology currently has an agreement with the
Department of Civil Engineering to enable MSc students from Zhejiang to study in Dundee. The purpose of
this visit was to extend the collaboration to other areas including Life Sciences, Accountancy and
Mechanical Engineering and to include both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The University also recently played host to a delegation of 12 from Dundee's sister city, Alexandria,
USA. The delegation, led by Mayor of Alexandria Bill Euilleh, was in Dundee to cement the relationship
between the city of Alexandria and Dundee.
The delegation, accompanied by Lord Provost, John Letford, was given a brief introduction to the
University by Director of External Relations, Joan Concannon. Presentations on the School of Life
Science's development as a world-class research centre were made by Professor Grahame Hardie and
Professor Inka Nathke. The group were also taken on a tour of the Wellcome Trust Biocentre.
