New Deans and Heads of Schools

Appointments to the posts of Dean and Head of School have recently been made in a number of faculties.

Liz Gillies has been elected as Dean of Education & Social Work, in succession to Professor Ron Elder, for a period of three years from 1 August 2004. A number of other Deans were also renewed for a second term of three years until 31 July 2007, namely Professor Georgina Follet, DJCAD, Professor Michael Davies, Engineering and Physical Sciences, and Professor Peter Downes, Life Sciences, who was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s birthday honours in June.

New Heads of School have also been appointed: Dr Catia Montagna of Economic Studies for three years from 1 August, and Peter Wakefield of Education also for three years from 1 August. Professor Greg Lloyd will continue in his position of Head of the School of Town & Regional Planning for a further three years.
