Double success for Dalziel+Scullion
The reputation of University artists in residence Dalziel + Scullion continues to grow, with the pair
recently notching up a prestigious commission and a sale to a Museum of Art in the USA.
'Voyager 2001' was recently sold to the Museum of Art, Miami where it will form part of the museum's
permanent collection. Taking the form of three cast aluminum tents, the work was previously exhibited in
New York.
Closer to home, Matthew and Louise have been commissioned for a project at the Newcastle Freeman Hospital
(above). The building, by leading architects Anshen/Dyer, is due for completion next year, and will
house the Northern Centre for Cancer Treatment and the Renal Unit. The two departments are to be
separated by a dynamic feature wall that dramatically travels through the glass atrium entrance to the
building. It is in this area that Matthew and Louise will design a new work tailored for this exciting
new development. They will work in collaboration with the architects and with various users of the
building.
