Hong Kong conference
English Lecturer Jodi-Anne George has recently returned to Dundee after attending the 4th International
Autobiography conference in Hong Kong.
Entitled 'Inhabiting multiple worlds auto/biography in an (anti) global age', the event was very relevant to
Jodi-Anne's current research area.
She received a British Academy Overseas' Conference Travel award to attend the conference and present a paper
on the work of the 19th century American artist and translator Francesca Alexander.
Jodi-Anne said, "The location of the conference meant that it attracted people from countries that I would
not normally come across, for example there were lots of scholars from Australia and mainland China. I found
it a really extraordinary and eye-opening experience."
Having also met a number of other British academics, Jodi-Anne has established new links and hopes to arrange
exchanges between Dundee and other universities in the future. Her next trip will be to Texas in March next
year, where she will be examining manuscripts relating to Elizabeth Barrett Browning's Chaucer translation
and related primary material.
