Graduation festivities revealed
The BBC's political correspondent Andrew Marr has been unveiled as the speaker for this year's Greatest
Minds lecture - part of the week-long programme of graduation festivities.
This year's 'Graduation Sensation' programme is bigger and better than ever, with the traditional garden
parties, graduation ball and staff and alumni ball all taking place in the Graduation Sensation tented
village outside Sensation Science Centre. For the first time, University Principal Sir Alan Langlands will
host a special reception for international students and their families and there will also be a new
'Scottish Sensation' ceilidh evening.
Andrew Marr will deliver the Greatest Minds lecture at the Bonar Hall on Friday 2 July, after being conferred
with an honorary degree by the University that afternoon.
On the same evening Summer Sensation, the annual party for staff and alumni will be held in the tented village
- the perfect way to celebrate the end of the academic year and the achievements of the whole University
community.
The University will also be hosting this year's Royal Society of Edinburgh Summer Reception. Fellows of the
Society will attend the Greatest Minds Lecture before attending a reception in Sensation Village. This is the
first time that an RSE event of such a scale has been held in the city.
