Transforming the Botanics
The Botanic Garden has undergone a transformation over recent months, resulting in the creation of a more
inviting entrance, better gallery and interpretation space and a new teaching, or meeting, room.
Alasdair Hood, Curator of the Botanic Garden explained, "The garden is increasingly used by University
departments for away days. Now that all the Garden's internal space is in the same complex as the Garden
Café it is much easier for our partners in catering and retail to serve all those booking the facilities who
require food and drink."
The creation of the new teaching room means that a complete class can now be accommodated for educational
visits. Dr Neil Paterson has recently been appointed as part time Education Officer, following the retirement
of Dr Jillian Galbraith who modernised the original education programme.
The Botanic Garden's web site has been upgraded to reflect the corporate image and the Grounds and Gardens
Department has had a new web page developed so that staff can gain an insight into the work that is carried
out on campus and the services that are available to all University departments.
The slab laying at the site was completed with help from the community project team from Castle Huntly.
