New rector
TV presenter and TICR Patron Lorraine Kelly has beaten Lesley Riddoch and David Shayler in the recent
elections for the University's new rector.
The inauguration ceremony and "drag" will take place later this spring, when Lorraine will officially take
over from current rector Fred McAulay. She will hold office for three years, representing the students on
University Court.
Lorraine said, "I am delighted to be elected as Rector and I see my job as representing the students and
helping them in any way I can. Dundee University is an exciting vibrant place of learning and I am proud to
have the chance to tell the world about the wonderful work that is being done here. I am really looking
forward to the next three years."
President of the Students' Association Chris Bustin said, "We are delighted that Lorraine won the election
and we are confident that she will be an excellent representative for our students."
