Many thanks are extended to all who donated their old computers to Uganda. A full container has now been
despatched. Jacqui Robertson from the Chaplaincy will advise when another container is due to go and requests
that spare or surplus computers are kept.

Kate Gleeson, a fashion psychologist from the University of the West of England, gave a talk on the

First year students from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences were recently awarded with prizes for
coming top of their class. Dean of the Faculty, Professor Chris Whatley, presented the cash prizes - from the
Armistead Bursary - at a special ceremony.

Dr Alex Wright, from the Department of Politics, has given evidence to the European and External
Relations committee at the Scottish Parliament. His expert testimony dealt with promoting Scotland's
interests in the EU and abroad.

Guinness has confirmed that the record for fastest ever production of a musical has been broken by the
University and Apex Productions. The production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was staged in less than
24 hours.

Nursing students Tina Stewart and Jane Hamer-Millington will be carrying out a charity abseil in April

The closing date for applications for the next round of Royal Society of Edinburgh/Scottish Enterprise
Fellowships is 8 April.
These Fellowships encourage researchers based in Scottish Higher Education Institutions to commercialise
their research and form spin out companies. Enterprise Fellowships are available in, Electronics, Energy,
Food, Forest Industries, Life Sciences, Microelectronics, Optoelectronics and Tourism.

Debbie Heys, a final year Architecture student, recently presented an illustrated talk on her award
winning Dissertation topic to the Scottish Ecological Design Association and Scottish Design Students. Debbie
won the prestigious Krystyna Johnson Travel Award and used the prize money to fund a trip to an international
conference on Earth Building in Berlin.
