TOWARDS 2007
"It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change" - Charles Darwin, The Origin of Species
The University's plan outlining a vision to ensure Dundee's success for the future, Towards 2007 went "live" shortly after graduation at www.dundee.ac.uk/principalsoffice/towards2007.html and the first feedback is already being received.
Here Principal Sir Alan Langlands introduces Towards 2007...
From its very beginnings the University of Dundee has always been both aspirational and down to earth - traits that remain our fundamental watermark today.
Now in our 122nd year, and looking towards our 40th anniversary as a fully fledged university in 2007, we strive to develop our vision ahead of a rapidly changing world.
At its meeting on 30 June 2003 the University Court endorsed a forward plan for the University for the next four years outlining a vision for the future, defining key strategic objectives and summarising the key priorities for each of the seven faculties. The plan, Towards 2007, is the result of discussion which has taken place over a period of many months with a wide range of staff and students across the university and beyond. The pages of Contact allow us to present no more than an introduction but the full plan can be viewed on the website as detailed above.
Towards 2007 is not a blueprint. Its aim is to way mark the general direction in which the University is heading and to help unlock the creative potential of all our staff to devise the ideas, initiatives and partnerships to power us on our way.
Over the coming weeks there will be a number of opportunities for open discussion of the way ahead including meetings on all four of our campuses at the City Centre, Gardyne Road, Ninewells Hospital and Medical School and at Kirkcaldy. I hope you will take these opportunities to join us and share your thoughts and comments in shaping our future.
