Merger update

Preparations are well in hand for the long awaited merger with Northern College to take place early in November this year. The plan is to base the new Faculty of Education and Social Work at the Gardyne Road campus until a new build on the Heathfield site allows full academic integration on the central campus to take place.

During the summer the merged social work departments have relocated on D floor of the Gardyne Road campus. Preparation is currently being made for educational studies to join the new faculty education department at Gardyne Road.

This merger brings teacher education back to the University of Dundee at a time when it is expanding significantly in both pre-service and in-service. The faculty will have considerable scope for development of interdisciplinary programmes to meet the needs of the professions it serves: education, community education and social work. An event is planned for November to mark the successful merger.
