A visit to the University of Dundee’s campus in Kirkcaldy could prove to be the right prescription for people interested in a career in nursing.

The University’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences is hosting an Open Day at the Fife site on Saturday 28 September, giving prospective students a chance to learn more about the courses and career options available.

Staff will be on hand to showcase the facilities, including lecture theatre, library and accommodation, while clinical skills will also be demonstrated in the site’s dedicated laboratory. A workshop will also take place to provide guidance on writing a Personal Statement, an integral part of the application process.

Professor Lynn Kilbride, Dean of Dundee’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences, said, “A career in nursing is immensely rewarding professionally and personally and our dedicated campus at Kirkcaldy provides students with a world-leading experience.

“Attending our Open Day will give anybody interested in studying with us the chance to experience what life is like here as a student and sample the first class facilities and training we provide.

“We are committed to providing the highest quality of learning for our students, with a recent programme of upgrades to classrooms and campus facilities ensuring that there is no better place to begin a career in Nursing than at the University of Dundee.”

Approximately 300 students study at the Kirkcaldy campus, which became affiliated to the University in 1996. With a sister campus in Dundee, the University offers placements for its students throughout Scotland and overseas, with further postgraduate learning opportunities available to ensure that all students maximise their potential.

The Open Day takes place on Saturday 28 September from 10am-2pm. Registration is free and can be completed online.
