University entrepreneurs win £26,000 of funding

Nine members of the University of Dundee community won £26,000 of funding for their business ideas at the Venture 2018 competition last week.

All the winners, and two runners-up, will receive a membership for Entrepreneurial Scotland and be offered a place to take part in Elevator’s summer business accelerator programme at the new Centre for Entrepreneurship.

Venture 2018 marked the culmination of the University’s annual Entrepreneurship Week. The challenge gave 52 students, graduates and staff members the chance to pitch their ideas to leading business innovators and potential investors.

“We were blown away by the volume and standard of entries to Venture 2018 and are delighted to have been able to offer support to 11 fantastic business ideas,” said Brian McNicoll, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Manager at the University.

“With the right support, these proposals may be developed into successful enterprises, and the experience of pitching ideas to potential investors is one that all participants will have benefitted from.”
