Teaching, student experience and graduate prospect strengths highlighted in rankings

The University of Dundee has been ranked 27th in the UK in this year’s Times / The Sunday Times Good University Guide.

Dundee also ranked 4th among Scottish universities in the league table, which highlighted the institution’s strengths in teaching excellence, student experience and graduate prospects. The University was 2nd in Scotland for each of these categories.

Professor Sir Pete Downes, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dundee, said, “Our strengths in teaching, already reflected in our Gold award in the inaugural Teaching Excellence Framework, and our excellent student experience show what a fantastic place Dundee is to study.

“Furthermore, our strong performance in terms of graduate prospects shows that we are equipping our students with the attributes to make an impact in the workplace and wider society. This is doubly important as we continue to make progress towards ensuring that students from the most deprived sections of society do not miss out on university.”

Sofia Skevofylaka, President of Dundee University Students’ Association, said “DUSA and the University work in synergy to provide support to students, from health and wellbeing to housing and academic matters.

“By creating the best student experience we can, the opportunities for our students know no bounds. One of the main reasons why Dundee succeeds is because we strive to raise student potential. This is at the heart of both the University and DUSA and we see it reflected in the league tables.”

The Times / The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 provides definitive rankings for UK universities and a comprehensive overview of higher education in Britain. It includes profiles on all British universities and rankings based on the latest data published. A fully searchable website with university profiles and more than 60 subject tables will be published on Sunday.
