Head Dragon visits Dundee’s entrepreneurial den

`Dragons’ Den’ star Peter Jones will visit Dundee’s own Centre for Entrepreneurship on Wednesday 3rd October to speak to enterprising students and budding business hopefuls.

The business tycoon, who is making his fifth appearance at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, will speak about his own entrepreneur journey on his visit to the Centre, which is a partnership between Elevator, Scotland’s leading private provider of enterprise, employment and entrepreneurial services, and the University of Dundee.

Mr Jones will meet with current and past cohorts of Elevator’s accelerator programme, a 12-week course designed to assist ambitious early business owners and entrepreneurs to improve their business growth.

He will discuss his own experiences as a successful entrepreneur, his Dragons’ Den career and explain what investors are really looking for in a company.

He said, "It's a pleasure to be here and meet young entrepreneurs and to hear some really exciting business ideas.

"There is clearly a lot of activity in the centre, which is great to see."

Brian McNicoll, Head of Centre for Entrepreneurship at the University of Dundee, said, “This is a great opportunity for our students and staff to hear from one of the country’s best-known entrepreneurs.

“We have a whole host of budding entrepreneurs on campus who will all have to test their business ideas and pitch to potential funders if they are to be successful in the future. So, it is great for them to gain an insight from someone as prominent as Peter Jones.”

Andy Campbell, Dundee Accelerator Manager at Elevator, said, “We are delighted to welcome Peter to our centre on Wednesday, he is renowned for interrogating would-be entrepreneurs so it is fantastic for our cohort to grill him for a change. He is such an inspiration to our cohorts.

“Elevator’s aim is to inspire individuals to transform their ideas into business propositions and Dundee is known as the ‘City of Discovery’; it is full of grand designs and ambition. We’re playing a small part in its current development journey by supporting more start-ups that will flourish to create jobs and wealth for the region. Ultimately, we’re creating the next generation of Peter Jones’.”
