Dundee ranked among UK’s best for student satisfaction

The University of Dundee has once again ranked among the best universities in the United Kingdom for overall student satisfaction, achieving a top 10 place in the 2018 National Student Survey (NSS).

The University recorded overall satisfaction of 88%, well above the sector average of 83% and was ranked second in Scotland.

The National Student Survey is a census of nearly half a million students undertaken independently by Ipsos MORI and evaluates how satisfied students are with the quality of their higher education experience.

The survey asks students 27 questions across eight themes relating to their experiences of learning and teaching. Across these themes Dundee is ranked 5th in the UK for `Teaching On My Course’, 5th for Learning Resources, 9th for Academic Support and 10th for Learning Community.

Professor Sir Pete Downes, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University, said, “In Dundee the interests of students are at the heart of everything we do and student representatives are engaged at all levels of decision making. I am grateful to all our staff who really care about students, which shows in the consistent recognition that we provide one of the best student experiences anywhere in the UK.”

Sofia Skevofylaka, President of Dundee University Students’ Association (DUSA), said, ‘’We are delighted to see that our students recognise the hard work and drive our University has for creating the best student experience. We are also proud to say that DUSA is ranked in the top ten Higher Education Student Associations in the UK and second in Scotland.’’
