Some of the most pressing issues of our time will up for discussion in front of live audiences at the University of Dundee’s Festival of the Future later this week.
A five-day series of daily debates, discussing topics including the rise in drug-related deaths, feminism in 2018 and how to make Dundee a more liveable city, will take place from Wednesday 17 to Sunday 21 October.
The debates are aimed at getting the city talking about its future, according to Anna Day, Cultural Projects Manager at the University of Dundee.
She said, “Dundee is changing around us. What can we learn from other cities and each other, is not only crucial for the future of this city, but also for the future of each and every one of us.
“We have some truly fantastic debates lined up, covering the sustainability of cities, the reliability of forensic science and drug-death crisis. Tickets are free to book now, so don’t miss your opportunity to have your say.”
The daily debates will kick off with ‘Future Cities’ – a panel debate which calls into question the need to balance the desire for modernisation with Dundee’s industrial past. It takes place at Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) on Wednesday 17 October.
