Women in Science Festival’s Family Fun Day

A Family Fun Day jam-packed with exciting science experiments is being held at Charleston Community Centre this weekend.

The free event opens at 10am on Sunday, 5th March and takes place as part of this year’s Women in Science Festival, which is organised by the University of Dundee.

There will be lots of exciting hands-on activities suitable for all ages. Families will get the chance to find out more about forensic science and how it is used to help solve crimes. Visitors will learn about sports science and discover weird and wonderful facts about plants. There will also be interactive storytelling sessions, face painting and science craft sessions throughout the day.

Organiser Shabnam Wasim, from the University, said, “This is such a great event to get families engaged with science right on their doorsteps.

“The Family Fun Day is part of this year’s Women in Science Festival, which is all about encouraging young people to enjoy science.

“So come along on Sunday with your family and friends and join in the fun.”

The Family Fun Day runs from 10am-4pm on Sunday, 5th March at Charleston Community Centre. Entry is free and there is no need to book in advance.

Women in Science Festival takes place between 4th and 10th March and is the world's only festival dedicated to celebrating women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
