University staff raise five-figure sum at Bollywood bash.

Staff from the University of Dundee have raised over £14,000 for medical research by hosting a Bollywood Ball in the city.

The money raised at the Apex City Quay Hotel on Saturday 4 November will be used to help to fund research for diabetes, cancer, neurology and cardiovascular conditions.

Attendees were treated to a three-course meal and entertainment was provided by the Dance Ihayami group from Edinburgh, who had the crowd up dancing like Bollywood stars.

Organiser Shobna Vasishta said, “This was my 20th fundraising charity ball and I had a fantastic team working with me to make this a success.

“We have been overwhelmed by the complimentary messages from the attendees. The Bollywood theme this year has certainly proved to be very popular. There was a masterclass in Bollywood dancing at one point which had everyone up on their feet.”
