The University of Dundee Boxing club will go toe-to-toe with students from across the country this weekend as they host the Scottish Student Boxing Championships in the Bonar Hall.
Nine bouts of heavy hitting are taking place on Saturday, 22nd April from 1pm to 5pm with combatants from Dundee, Aberdeen, Glasgow Caledonian and St. Andrews universities signed up to fight.
Donnie Muirhead, the 20-year-old club captain, said, “The standard of University boxing is better than ever before, so if people want to see some really explosive and exciting action then they can come cheer on the local universities this Saturday.”
“We will win every fight no doubt about it.”
Ben Holme, Boxing Scotland North Region Development Officer, said, “We are delighted that the Scottish University Boxing Championships will get underway this weekend after an absence of two years.
“A lot of credit must go to the University of Dundee Boxing Club in organising the event, and also to Scottish Student Sport (SSS) for their assistance.
“The bouts are all evenly matched, so I’m sure there will be some great contests as the students aim to be crowned Scottish University champion.”
Tickets will be available on the door for spectators and are priced at £5.
