Five-figure sum donation to improve facilities at University of Dundee

One of the country’s largest funeral providers has given a generous donation to the University of Dundee to help provide world-class teaching facilities in the University’s Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification (CAHID).

Dignity, who run Dundee Crematorium, handed over a cheque for £15,000. Dignity helps the University hold its annual funeral service for relatives and friends of our body donors. Staff at Dignity are instrumental in ensuring the funeral service is carried out in a very respectful manner as befits this very important event in the University calendar.

The money will be used to vastly improve the current facilities used for student teaching and medical and dental training, and to allow the centre to expand plans for public engagement activities.

Professor Tracey Wilkinson, Principal Anatomist, accepted the cheque on behalf of CAHID. She said, “We are extremely grateful to Dignity for this kind donation. We have an excellent relationship with the company, who have provided exceptional services for our anatomical donation programme over many years.

“It’s so rewarding to see a company, with whom we work so closely, keen to support us in other areas of our work. This donation will certainly help improve how we engage with the public and our staff and students every day.”

David Baxter from Dignity said, “We support various charities, and we thought CAHID was worthy of a donation.

“We work closely together so it seemed natural for us to help them take their ideas for the future forward.”
