Students and staff from the University of Dundee are inviting locals to help raise funds for mental health support by taking on an exhilarating assault course at the heart of campus.
Those who think they have what it takes can attempt the new obstacle challenge ‘Brave Runner’ at the University on Tuesday, 17th October at 5.30pm.
Organised by the Sports Union and the Institute for Sport and Exercise (ISE) at the University, the fun obstacle circuit will test participants’ fitness, strength, stamina, mental grit and teamwork, all in the aid of the mental health support on campus.
Alex Scott, Sports Union President said, “For the price of a pint you can help raise money for mental health and challenge yourself along the way. We have a number of obstacles which will test stamina, strength, speed and your sense of humour.”
Nik Long, Gym Manager at the ISE, said, “We are delighted to challenge the Dundee community. It has been proven that regular exercise can help mitigate the effects of poor mental health and can kick-start a more balanced wellbeing.
“We invite each and every one of you to take on our challenge – are you brave enough? All donations will go towards our Healthy Body, Healthy Mind referral service which is available for students who can benefit from exercise to help balance out the adverse effects of modern life.”
The Brave Runner challenge will launch a range of mental health activities across campus for Minds Matter month in November.
Participants are encouraged to donate £3 to take part and can register online or in person at the ISE.
