‘Alpaca-lypse’ approaches the University of Dundee

Dundee University Students’ Association (DUSA) are taking the reins of an adorable ‘alpaca-lypse’ next month as they welcome a herd of fluffy friends to campus in time for exam season.
The alpacas, raised at Bowbridge Alpaca Farm in Fife, are coming to campus on Friday, 5th May to destress students as the academic year draws to its testing conclusion.
Recent studies have shown that people who come in contact with cute animals not only get an increase in dopamine, the same chemical released when we fall in love, but also they focus better on tasks that required concentration afterwards.
Tharani Packiahrajah, Vice President of Student Welfare, said, “Exams are looming and this can be a stressful time for students. We’ve invited a flock of cute alpacas to help them unwind.
“It is important for students to take regular study breaks during the exam season, so alongside the alpacas, we will also be giving out free fruit, water and colouring books so our students can study healthily.”
The herd is already proving hugely popular on social media as the Facebook event has racked up thousands of hits in anticipation of the free event next week.
The alpacas will be on campus between 10 am and 3 pm on Friday, 5th May.
