A new cohort of creative heroes are showcasing their work at this year’s University of Dundee Masters Show.
Students from the MDes Comics and Graphic Novels course are exhibiting at the popular event for the first time.
There is a wide variety of work on display, including comics about historical figures, trauma, the human spirit, science fiction and time travel.
The course attracts students straight from their undergraduate degree, but also already established comic book creators. This year James O’Ready will be exhibiting his work. His credits include the Titan Comics Death Sentence series and he has also written for Marvel Comics.
Visitors will also get the chance to experience a new experimental physical 3D comic, designed by student Zu Dominiak. There are also examples of digital comics, and a wide range of titles and genres that will appeal to all readers.
Course Director Phillip Vaughan said, “I was asked to develop the MDes course in order to give Comics students a more practical outcome to their studies and their output demonstrates their development.
“We have seven students exhibiting this year and we are excited to let the public see the work we do on the course.”
The Masters Show is on now at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design and runs until Saturday, 27th August. The exhibition is open from 10am-8pm on weekdays and from 10am-4pm at weekends.
