PopDundee is back – student creations on sale
Published On Fri 10 Jun 2016 by Cara Longmuir
Dundee shoppers will have the chance to buy work from some of the city’s brightest young creatives as students from the University of Dundee are bringing their popular pop up shop back.
PopDundee will be opening up for the seventh time in its latest venue Door Below at Drouthy’s Bar and Restaurant on Monday 13th to Friday 17th June.
The public will be able to purchase prints, jewellery, original artwork and illustrated books from the artists, which include recent graduates from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. There will also be the opportunity to view the finished film projects from this year’s final year Animation students.
The very first PopDundee shop was held in the Overgate in May. It was so successful that organisers Victoria Stephen and Ashling Larkin decided to make it a regular event.
“All of our pop up shop events have been successful, with almost all of the artists taking part making a profit.” said Victoria. “Events like this give students and young artists the opportunity to develop their artistic confidence and entrepreneurial skills.”
Some of this year’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design graduates will be selling their artwork after they impressed visitors at last month’s Art, Design & Architecture Degree Show.
PopDundee will be open 12-5pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and from 2-7pm on Tuesday and Thursday.
