A University of Dundee lecturer will be giving tips on how to study effectively at next week’s Café Science event.
‘Pimp Your Memory: Lessons from Psychology’ will see Dr Carolina Kuepper-Tetzel talk about Cognitive Psychology, a subject that examines how we learn, think, judge, perceive and remember, on Monday, 10th October. She will give an overview on the most promising learning principles and will provide strategies that can improve memory.
Dr Kuepper-Tetzel said, “People will leave my talk with a better understanding on how learning principles from Cognitive Psychology can be used to their advantage.
“I will be discussing how to prepare for an upcoming test and ways to maintain information for a long time.
“Science has shown that these learning strategies are easy to use and very effective.”
Café Science was launched in January 2008, and has attracted over 7000 visitors since then. The monthly events are informal discussions led by leading local researchers that allow members of the public the opportunity to learn more about the ground-breaking science at the Universities of Dundee and Abertay.
‘Pimp Your Memory: Lessons from Psychology’ takes place at Avery & Co, 34 South Tay Street, at 7pm on Monday, 10th October. The event is free and open to all. There is no need to book in advance but an early arrival is recommended.
