The University of Dundee has announced its new Dundee Stars ice hockey scholarship student.
Justin Faryna from Alberta, Canada will start at the School of Business next semester to complete a fully funded place on the MSc Management programme.
He was named player of the year for the Dundee Stars this season, and was also their top scorer.
Justin will be added to a trio of Canadian players who have been sponsored by the University, with this season’s player Lou Dickenson from Ontario and 2014/15’s player Marc Cheverie from Nova Scotia.
Justin said, “Being the third Canadian to be sponsored leaves me with big shoes to fill. I know ex Dundee goaltender Marc Cheverie and teammate Lou Dickinson made a lasting impression on the program. I hope I can continue the Canadian trend of excellence.
“Receiving this scholarship is a blessing. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to be part of such a reputable program. I know walking through this door is going to be life changing and I'm counting down the days.”
Dr Elizabeth Monk, director of MSc Management said, “Justin is a hugely popular signing and we are delighted he will be joining us next semester.
“The scholarship brings in a high calibre foreign player for the club and we really enjoy working with the Stars on this programme.”
