Published On Mon 2 May 2016 by Cara Longmuir
The University of Dundee and the James Hutton Institute are coming together in the name of ‘Plant Power’.
They will be hosting an event on Saturday, May 21st at the University of Dundee’s Botanic Garden to highlight how fascinating plants are and how important they are to the past, present and future of humanity.
There will be a range of activities taking place including hands on scientific workshops, falconry and face painting.
Dr Kelly Houston, a plant geneticist from the James Hutton Institute, said, “We hope that the Plant Power Day offers something for everyone in the fantastic setting of Dundee Botanic Garden.
“If people go away having learnt more about the importance of plants then that is even better.”
Dr Sarah McKim, a principal investigator in the Division of Plant Sciences at the University added, "This is our most important public outreach event of the year and our volunteers, including students and staff scientists, are very excited to share our fascination with plants."
Plant Power Day will start at 10am and run until 4pm.
