The oxygen cure
According to Dr Philip James, senior lecturer at the University of Dundee and director of the Wolfson Hyperbaric Medicine Unit, although doctors use pure oxygen routinely to promote recovery in intensive care, "they haven't latched on to the fact that having high levels of oxygen in the red cells does not necessarily mean that the oxygen will reach the tissues, because when a tissue is damaged, so is its blood supply".
