Dundee students do us proud in Melbourne Games

Dundee students Ross Clark and Morag MacLarty have represented Scotland in the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

Ross, a first year Applied Computing student, progressed through the heats and semi-finals of the 50m breaststroke to finish seventh in the final in a time of 28.93 seconds.

Third year medical student, Morag, finished eighth in her heat of the 1500m athletics race in a time of 4 minutes, 20.79 seconds.

Both students are members of the University's Excel Sports scholarship team.

Kirsteen Cruickshanks, sports scholarship coordinator with the University's Institute of Sport and Exercise said, "Ross and Morag have demonstrated their potential as elite athletes in the performances they have achieved."

"Morag has been successful in overcoming several recent injuries to actually compete in Melbourne. In reaching the final of the 50m breaststroke Ross managed to break his personal best time. This is a credit to his build up and preparation for the Games. Both athletes are destined for future success and are a credit to the University."
