Cricket cup comes home
Dundee University Staff Cricket Club is celebrating success having once again beaten St Andrew's in the annual Bill Ferrier Cup.
The University team has lost to St Andrew's only once since the turn of the millennium and now leads the series, which has been running since 1987, with 10 victories to St Andrew's nine (the weather won in 1990 when the match was rained off).
The competition was established in memory of Dr W G Ferrier, senior Physics lecturer, the University's first schools liaison officer, and former Captain and President of DUSCC.
The home win over St Andrews was the highlight of a very successful year for DUSCC. They also beat St Andrews away and gained a runner-up place in a six-a-side tournament hosted by Almond Valley CC in Perth. Despite beating St Andrew's in open play, DUSCC lost the tournament to them in a bowl out, after the two sides tied with three victories each from a possible four.
DUSCC welcomes players of both sexes and all abilities each summer for evening games on Wednesday nights, all of which are played in a good spirit with the emphasis on enjoyment and friendly competition.
