Cancer centre status

The Cancer Research Campaign laboratories based in the Wellcome Trust Biocentre and at the Medical School at Ninewells have been awarded centre status by the CRC to promote communication among the research groups, sharing their overlapping research interests and raising public awareness of CRC work in Dundee.

Dundee currently hosts 13 CRC-funded research teams, funded to the tune of over £2.3 million per annum. These research teams share interests in the biology of cell proliferation and its regulation, epithelial cell biology and the molecular biology of nucleic acids.

The award of £10,500 will establish the CRC Centre at Dundee and will cover the costs of two yearly meetings, a brochure and a dedicated website for the scientists.

Professor Sir David Lane will be chairman of the centre with Dr Julian Blow and Professor Birgit Lane as deputies.
