New campus opens at Wanli The first phase of the £6 million campus at Zhejiang Wanli University in China was opened in September watched by over 5,000 students and invited guests including senior education officials. Representing the University of Dundee at the opening ceremony was manager of the Wanli project, Mike Tooze, who passed on the good wishes of Principal Sir Alan Langlands, former Principal Dr Ian Graham Bryce - who will continue to act in a personal capacity as adviser to the Board of the Wanli Education Group - and Mr Ian Ovens, Principal of Dundee College. The Wanli Project is a partnership agreement which aims to enable Chinese diploma students to complete their work for a degree at the University of Dundee by giving them direct entry into third year for both general and honours programmes. Currently seven departments are involved and by October 2002 at least 150 students are expected to come to Dundee through this programme.
