An appeal by an enterprising member of staff at the University of Dundee has resulted in a generous amount of clothing donations for orphans in Kenya.
Neil Christie, International Officer at the University of Dundee is heading out to Kenya on Monday to recruit students but decided he would like to contribute to the orphanage on his visit. Initially planning to appeal to citizens in Dundee for children's clothes, Neil found that an email round staff at the University brought in even more donations than he could manage.
Neil explained: "I only have my own luggage allowance so I'm planning to cut down on my personal items and carry one bag of my own and one bag of donations for the orphanage. I have been overwhelmed by people's response to the appeal I would like to thank people who have given me the children's clothes it is a very worthwhile gesture."
Neil and the rest of the international team plan to take the remaining clothing on subsequent visits to countries where they can identify orphanages that need donations. The University is focusing this year on Vietnam, Sri Lanka, China, Mexicoand India.
