World renowned architect Frank Gehry will accept an honorary degree from the University of Dundee on Friday 26 September.
The University community will gather in the Bonar Hall at 11.30am to honour the architect of the new Maggie Centre in Dundee. University Chancellor Sir James Black will confer Frank Gehry with a Doctor of Laws.
Professor Charles McKean, an expert in architecture will deliver the graduation laureation, honouring Frank Gehry's practice and the buildings which are landmarks in many cities all over the world.
The Maggie Centre in Dundeeis the first Frank Gehry building in the UK. Professor McKean will thank the architect for this honour saying: "We are extremely fortunate in Dundee to have, as it were, our "Gehry" ahead of everybody else in these islands."
Mary Wells, Head of Maggie's Dundee and Head of Research at the Centre will speak at the graduation ceremony on the delivery cancer care in a sympathetic environment. Mary, who is a cancer nurse will explain the importance of the aesthetic environment to patient care.
