More than 200 walkers will stretch their legs this weekend when they take part in the annual fundraising treks for the University of Dundee's Institute of Cardiovascular Research.
The TICR Treks will follow two routes through the Perthshire countryside, around Birnham, Dunkeld and the River Tay, to raise funds for the £3.5 million institute which will be built to house research to combat heart and vascular disease.
On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September, more experienced walkers can follow the eight-and-a-half mile long red route, while the less energetic and those with children can follow the five-mile blue route.
On each day, walks will leave from the Dunkeld Recreation Ground car park at 10am. Professor Hugh Tunstall-Pedoe, one of the TICR doctors, will be walking on Saturday, along with his dog Gussie. On Sunday Dundee Lord Provost John Letford, MSP John McAllion and SNP leader John Swinney will be taking part.
There will be the opportunity to sign up on the day. Costs are £4 per person for one walk, £5 for both . Participants are also asked to collect sponsorship to boost the TICR fund. Under 12s go free. Dogs are allowed if kept on a lead.
There will also be a quiz with the chance to win a night in the Hilton Dunkeld House or a Baxter's Balmoral Hamper.

On the days of the walks, TICR fundraising manager Robert McLaren can be contacted on 07761 145898.
Note to Editors:
The Institute of Cardiovascular Research has been established in Dundee to create a centre of excellence with the aim of helping to beat heart and vascular disease. Research is ongoing but £3.5 million is required to successfully establish a research centre, the building of which is expected to begin at the University Medical School's Ninewells campus in around 2 years.
Major commitments have already been made from the University of Dundee (£240K) and Scottish Enterprise Tayside (£200K)
The campaign has been running for a year and more than £1/2 million has so far been raised.
