The University of Dundee is ranked fourth in Scotland and one of only two Scottish universities to maintain its position in the UK league according to yesterday's Sunday Times Good University Guide.
The Scottish league, according to the Sunday Times calculations, runs Edinburgh, St Andrews, Glasgow, Dundee.
The accompanying editorial underlines the University's strong performance: "Smaller than the universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, Dundee is capable of giving its larger rivals a run for their money."
Dundee remains in 44th place in the UK table while Edinburgh, St Andrews and Glasgow have all slipped back in UK terms to 15th , 16th and 26th.
The rest of the Scottish league (with UK placings in brackets) is then listed as 5th Stirling (49), 6th Aberdeen (50), 7th Strathclyde (51), 8th Heriot Watt (52), 9th Queen Margaret (73), 10th Robert Gordon(98), 11th Glasgow Caledonian (113), 12th Napier (115), 13th Abertay (118), 14th Paisley (121).
