Conference opens 9am, Friday September 21, West Park Centre. Also runs on Saturday.
Dundee City Council and the University of Dundee are co-hosting a major international conference on a pioneering method of improving communication in the classroom and hospitals.
Speakers from the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and the USA are attending the two-day gathering at the West Park Centre to discuss Video Interaction Guidance (VIG).
The aim of VIG is to improve interaction by the review of video clips of successful communication scenarios. This can be used by professionals in education, social work and health.
Examples will be given of how VIG has been used in a Dundee nursery school for the professional development of staff.
The method is used in 15 countries worldwide and there are 75 practitioners in Dundee alone. More follows..... Dundee City Council's education department pioneered the application of VIG in schools. The local health service, the University of Dundee and Northern College have also become involved in projects.
The conference will be attended by 300 delegates from 12 countries. Workshops will also give delegates hands-on experience of VIG in action.
