Photo Opportunity Tuesday 18th September, University of Dundee Botanic Gardens at 11am with pupils from Glebelands Primary and Chairman of Friends of the Gardens Group.
Imagine how the world would appear to a visiting alien. That is the question being answered at the University of Dundee Botanic Garden Visitor Centre as it opens its latest attraction - an interactive touch screen display putting you in command of a visiting alien spacecraft.
The spacecraft enables youngsters to explore planet earth as if they were aliens arriving here for the first time. Alasdair Hood, the curator of the gardens commented that: 'The new programme is tremendous fun for all the family and gives a very unique perspective of life here on earth. At the same time it is an educational tool and teaches youngsters all about plant life and its importance in a fun way.'
The new attraction opens tomorrow (Tuesday September 18) and allows visitors of all ages from eight to 98 to enjoy the latest 'edutainment' experience. The system teaches youngsters about life on earth and the importance of trees and plants in maintaining our planet’s ecosystems.
Youngsters are encouraged to explore the planet from their spacecraft and discover many fascinating facts about life on earth. Afterwards they can test their knowledge in a fun quiz.
This exciting new attraction, which opens just weeks before the gardens celebrate their 30th anniversary, was funded from the National Lottery Awards for All Scheme and was partially written by members of the university’s world leading Department of Life Sciences.
