The University of Dundee’s TICR campaign will receive two cheques today (Thursday 9 October).
At 1.30pm Dr Peter Taylor of the Dundee Bridge Club will present a cheque for over £3000 to Robert McLaren, chairman of the TICR campaign, at the Department of Medicine, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. Those funds were raised when the Dundee Bridge Club, held a charity bridge tournament at the Gleneagles Hotel, Gleneagles, on October 5. Included in that sum is over £300 collected by Bob McPaul, from Dundee, who lost 32lbs during a sponsored slim.
Before retiring, Dr Taylor worked as a consultant anaesthetist and University lecturer at Ninewells.
At 3pm Robert will receive a cheque at Camperdown Court (sheltered housing complex), Bield Housing Association, Balgarthno St, Dundee. Residents raised £215 when they held a coffee morning on September 27.
The TICR (The Institute for Cardiovascular Research) campaign aims to establish centre of excellence, based at Ninewells Hospital. The TICR campaign has already raised over £1.6 million through applications to Scottish Trusts and a range of fundraising events over the past two years.
