Statement from Sir Alan Langlands, Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of Dundee on the NHS Board meeting on 30th October.
"The University of Dundee always works closely with the NHS in ensuring academic developments are supportive of the Health Service’s endeavour to provide a full range of services for the whole of the Tayside population. The University acknowledges that Perth and Angus have every bit as much a contribution to make to the academic developments relevant to the health service as does the City of Dundee.
The University is supportive of the policy that ensures that academic research and teaching takes place across the whole of the region and with this in mind is looking forward to making maximum use of the teaching resources at Perth Royal Infirmary and the developing Ambulatory Diagnostic and Treatment Centre in Angus. As the Health Service modernises, the teaching within the University must reflect the requirements of the whole of the health service community.
As an institution we are also committed to ensuring that the whole cross section of the Tayside population is utilised in ethically safe research and benefits from the results of that research. With this in mind we are looking forward to having clinical research satellites to complement our teaching activity in the developments at PRI and the new developing ADTC in Angus."
