The lights will go down in true concert style in the Bonar Hall for the next Big Band concert as the music society at the University of Dundee has just received a lottery grant to buy specialised concert music stands.
The national lottery awarded musical students £1,844 to buy 30 stylish concert music stands complete with individual lights. The Big Band and orchestra will now be able to play in a real concert setting with dimmed lights over the audience.
David Christie, music society president said: "Our concert programme has been improving year on year with a wider selection of music and more polished performances. These new stands will allow us to provide a more atmospheric production for our audiences. We are all very proud of the fact that we were one of only three groups in the Dundee Area to secure funding from the Scottish Arts Council and we hope that this will continue the development of our society."
The Music Society will hold their Christmas concert on 5th December.
