Legal eagles and financial wizards will gather for an awards ceremony at the University of Dundee today as the faculty of law and accountancy presents its prizes to the cream of their students.
Scooping a hat trick each - Gavin Black, Susan MacAulay and Joe Williams -accountancy and finance students will take home the most awards. Gavin has won a new prize given by the Association of Corporate Treasurers for the best student studying capital markets.
Double awards will go to budding lawyers Lucia Polanski from Dundee and Adam Balfour from Glasgow who both pick up prizes for excellence in law with Adam coming top of the constitutional law class and Lucia winning best law dissertation.
Principal Sir Alan Langlands and the Dean of Law and Accountancy Dr Alex Russell will present the students with their prizes and thank the prize donors for their continuing support of teaching and learning at the University of Dundee.
Dr Alex Russell said: "In many ways the prize giving occasion is the highlight of our academic year. We have at Dundee law and accountancy students of the highest calibre who will go on to occupy top positions in their profession. The quality of the Dundee degrees is reflected by the high demand for places. This year the faculty has witnessed a 40% rise in first year students."
