Principal of the University of Dundee Sir Alan Langlands will say at Angus College graduation ceremony tonight that now is one of the greatest times to be involved in higher education.
Sir Alan: "This is a time when many of the traditional barriers are breaking down - the emphasis is on widening access, enhancing skills in every part of the economy and recognising that, in the modern world, further and higher education doesn't have to start at age 16 and finish at age 22.
Learning is a lifelong requirement and, no matter what job we do, society expects us to constantly refine and improve our skills, to be up to date and to stay on top of the latest knowledge, skills and techniques that fashion our working life.
Angus College has been quick to tap into these new trends. One of the great strengths of the College is its determination to work with others involved in education and training. I am particularly pleased that Principal John Burt has recently signed an agreement with the University of Dundee that will enable students who successfully complete one or two years of a Higher National qualification to enter second or third year of certain degree programmes at the University."
Students from Angus College will graduate tonight in Websters theatre in Arbroath.
