Security Notice

In view of current world events, the security situation at this University as well as other higher educational establishments in the United Kingdom is being monitored through consultation with the police and security managers elsewhere.

As at this date, there is no specific threat assessment towards universities, staff or students or any indication that this may change. On the basis of this information, no special security measures are required but the following routine guidance is given:

• If there are doubts as to the origin or contents of packages or letters, assistance should be sought before they are opened;
• All correspondence including e-mails containing threats or threatening information in the context of present events should be passed on without delay;
• The wording of any telephone calls purporting to be bomb threats should be carefully noted and immediate assistance sought.

It would be helpful if this information was made available to staff and students. Any change to the security situation as it affects the University or this area will be disseminated when available.
