Dundee Book Events is hosting an impressive line-up of speakers at the University of Dundee this autumn, kicking off on Wednesday 24 October with highly acclaimed and prize winning novelist Bernard MacLaverty, who will be talking about his new novel The Anatomy School. Born in Ireland, he has lived in Scotland for many years. He has been short-listed for the Booker prize and his last novel, Grace Notes, won the Saltire Scottish Book of the Year Award.
Magnus Magnusson, writer and broadcaster, will be discussing his new book Scotland: The Story of a Nation on Thursday 15 November. His latest book is a comprehensive history of Scotland, tracing the growth of the nation from the Stone Age to the present day, and investigating the truth behind popular myths.
Julian Richards, presenter of the highly successful BBC archaeology series "Meet the Ancestors" will complete the programme on Tuesday 4 December, when he will launch his lavishly illustrated book Blood of the Vikings written to accompany a new BBC television series.
Ann Swinfen, Chair of Dundee Book Events, said: "Over the past six years we have attracted many of Britain's most famous writers to the city. Dundee is now widely regarded by major publishers as a favourite venue for launching new titles. We are delighted to welcome these three outstanding speakers to our autumn season."
All the book events will take place in the 1st floor conference suite in the Tower Building at the University of Dundee at 7pm. Tickets are £2.50 and are available from James Thin Booksellers, Dundee./ENDS
