The University of Dundee Botanic Garden is celebrating its 30th anniversary today with a special visit from its first three curators.
Eddie Kemp who was the garden's first curator from 1971-1981 is now 92 and lives in Edinburgh. He will be speaking on the founding principles of the garden. Leslie Bissett (1981-1998) will talk on the progress of the garden and Alasdair Hood, the current curator will explain how the garden's team is making the maximum use of the facility through research and public education visits focussing on the importance of plants.
Alasdair Hood: " The University of Dundee botanic garden is only one of two thousand botanic gardens in the world. The concept of the garden is education and I hope that the garden will thrive over the next thirty years with education programmes and lots of visitors."
University of Dundee Principal Sir Alan Langlands will be attending and delivering the closing remarks and will be joined by Dundee West MP Ernie Ross.
A few tickets are still available for tonight's event and can be purchased on the door at the West Park Conference centre. The celebrations start at 7pm and a finger buffet will be served after the speeches./ENDS
