Beatlemania

Students from the University of Dundee music society will be dressed as the Beatles and a ballet dancer tomorrow outside the Caird Hall to promote their Christmas concert when they will perform the Beatlecracker suite.

Four male students will don costumes and wigs from the Hard Day's night era to promote their concert on Sunday 5th December when they will perform the piece arranged with original music by Tchaikovsky, Lennon and McCartney in St Paul's Cathedral.

Arranged by Arthur Wilkinson the piece weaves some of the Beatles favourite themes into the traditional Nutcracker suite.

Trumpeter Scott Jamieson, chorister Tom Love, violinist Simon Carter and conductor Graeme Stevenson will be the Beatles tomorrow outside the Caird Hall where the fab four famously played to capacity audiences in 1963 and 1964.

This year the University Orchestra and Big Band will both be performing on the same night in St Paul's Cathedral. As well as the Beatlecracker suite the orchestra will also perform Vaughan Williams' Folk Song Suite and the Big Band will play some classics from Duke Ellington and Glenn Miller. The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from the City Box office or at the door. £7 or £5 concession.
