University of Dundee researcher Pernille Spence's piece Kinaree is part of about you and your fears at McManus Galleries, Dundee.
Kinaree opens with a naked body covered in goose fat and honey standing in a glass house. Wind-generating fans, triggered when people pass the installation, cause feathers to rise and swirl around the body. The work is reminiscent of tarring and feathering as a form of punishment and of the myth of Icarus and Daedalus.
Pernille's performance has been filmed but can be seen live at McManus Galleries on Thursday 6 November (3pm-6pm) and Saturday 8 November (1pm-4pm).
Pernille is based at the School of Television & Imaging, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee.
about you and your fears runs until Sunday 9 November, then from Monday 17 November to Sunday 4 January, 2004. It features work by Pernille, Michael Mallet, Dan Howard-Birt, and Delia Baillie.
