TICR - The Institute for Cardiovascular Research at the University of Dundee is opening its doors on Friday (23 November) to volunteers who have shown interest in helping TICR raise £3.5 million to build a new centre at Ninewells.
TICR will bring together on one site specialists in cardiovascular research allowing them to work together to combat Scotland's number one killer - heart disease.
Guests will be able to see at first hand some of the vital research that is being carried out by the doctors and scientists at the University. Teams are currently looking into the long-term cardiovascular effects of bottle-feeding babies and the benefits that fish oils can have, decreasing heart disease risks.
Robert McLaren, chairman of the TICR appeal said: "We hope to increase awareness of the TICR appeal by opening our doors tomorrow. £3.5 million is a huge amount of money but cardiovascular disease is Scotland's number one killer - we need to build this centre for the future of Scotland's health./ENDS
