Dundee University Students' Association yesterday played host to a charity slave auction for local charities Caring For Kids and the Tayside Institute for Cardiovascular Research. The event, held in the Association's Tav Bar, was organised by the Dundee Yearclub 2004 (a group of third year medical students) in association with DUSA.

Students from various faculties, mostly medicine, were put up for sale in front of their peers, to perform a variety of tasks at a later date, some serious and some not so serious. Selfish Jac provided music on the night. The night's proceedings were expected to raise around £400 for the two charities.

Matthew Marr, President of the Students' Association, said:

"Especially at this time of the year, the Students' Association always tries to encourage students to do their bit for charity. We will also be involved in further charity drives closer to Christmas."

Leigh Adie, a member of the Yearclub 2004 and an organiser of the event, said:

"This was a brilliant event to be part of, and we're glad that these two worthy charities will benefit from a great night's entertainment."
